Moon River: open call for exhibition and publication
This open call draws its inspiration from Moon River, the song written for Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961) and performed by Audrey Hepburn. Beyond its melody, which has become a standard, the lyrics carry a distinct tone: that of departure, of bittersweet drift, of a gaze turned toward an uncertain yet longed-for horizon, and the hope of a better life. Two figures set off together toward a world wider than the one they know.
Opale Art draws on this tone to question our relationship to a shared future. This is not about illustrating a river or a scene from the film, but about exploring what the title carries within it: the idea of a better future, and the path toward it. This call is addressed to artists whose work engages with the major issues of our time, such as ecology and human rights.
We are looking for works that question or bear witness to our world, or that carry the hope of a better one: climate issues, ecology and biodiversity, gender equality, minority rights, mental health… This call is deliberately broad, given the many challenges we face.
All techniques and visual languages are welcome, provided the artist’s approach makes this connection to the theme explicit: a clear statement of intent will be decisive for the selection committee.
Each artist applies with one image.
Application deadline: Septembre 06, 2026. THIS OPEN CALL IS CLOSED
Online exhibition: September 25 to October 30, 2026.
Eligibility: open to all, all techniques, worldwide. A false or incomplete declaration may result in the disqualification of the application.
